New London restaurants opening in April 2022

Heading into April we have a new opening from Chantelle Nicholson, fire-based cooking in Dalston, two big new food halls and lots more besides...

TBCApricity

Mayfair - 68 Duke Street, Mayfair, London W1K 6JU

Ex Tredwells chef Chantelle Nicholson comes to Mayfair with this new opening that's a socially conscious restaurant first and foremost with sustainability at the heart. Expect there to be a big (but not sole) focus on vegetables with dishes including koji glazed BBQ oyster mushrooms, black garlic, nettle emulsion and fermented emmer wheat.

Acme Fire CultAcme Fire Cult

Dalston - Abbot Street Car Park, London, E8 3DP

This restaurant is a team-up between 40FT Brewery (it's in their yard) and Andrew Clarke and Daniel Watkins (St Leonards). As the name gives away, there's a lot of cooking over fire here including some amazing flatbreads (Dorset crab, bone marrow, jalapeno verde and salted cabbage) and lots of dishes that make good use of the beer from the brewery. Combine all that with a big covered, heated terrace and it promises to be a little oasis of flame-cooked food in Dalston.

TattuTattu

St Giles - The Now Building, Outernet, Denmark Pace, London WC2H 0LA.

Tattu is a restaurant group that's had big success elsewhere in the UK before landing in London. Here, they're taking up a prime space in the redesigned area around Centre Point with a restaurant that's inspired by a traditional Chinese courtyard house. It should look very striking, if their other restaurants are anything to go by. There'll be Chinese-inspired food with a focus on sharing dishes.

Twenty TwoThe Twenty Two

Mayfair - 22 Grosvenor Square, London W1K 6LF

This hotel on Grosvenor Square sees the reuniting of Alan Christie and Colin Kelly, two of the team behind the much-missed Picture restaurants. They're looking after the main restaurant here and are planning an all-day space, serving up a modern British menu with a big focus on seasonality.

BubalaBubala

Soho - 15 Poland Street, London W1F 8PR

This plant-focused restaurant was a huge hit when it launched in Spitalfields (Hot Dinners readers picked it as their favourite new opening of the year). So you can expect a similarly rapturous response when opens in Soho, in the old Vasco & Piero site.

Market Hall CargoMarket Hall Cargo

Canary Wharf - 25 North Colonnade, London E14 5HS

With (hopefully) the worst of the pandemic well behind us, Market Hall are also seeing a resurgence. In February, we'll see the reopening of Market Hall West End as well as this completely new food hall from them in Canary Wharf. Here you'll find Gopal's Corner (from Roti King), Baoziinn, Le Bab and more serving up the food.

Arcade Food HallArcade Food Hall

St Giles - 103-105 New Oxford Street, London WC2H 8LH

The arrival of JKS Restaurants heralds exciting new times for this central London food hall which was a victim of lockdown. When it reopens there’ll be two restaurants from chef Luke Ferell (one Indonesian, the other Southern Thai) along with spinoffs from Berenjak and Sabor among others.

Chotto MatteChotto Matte

Marylebone - 26 Paddington St, London W1U 5QY

This will be London’s second Chotte Matte and while everyone’s favourites will still be on the menu here with its focus on Nikkei cuisine, there are new cocktails and dishes planned, like the robatayaki salmon with smoked jalapeño chilli, persimmon and truffle.

Nightjar CarnabyNightjar Carnaby

Carnaby - Kingly Court, Fifty Carnaby, 49-51 Carnaby Street, London W1F 9PY

When one of London’s great bars makes plans to open a second venue, cocktail lovers should sit up and take note. Their Carnaby site at Kingly Court promises a stage for live music and a cocktail menu that spans the Pre-Prohibition, Prohibition and Post-War eras.
