This weekend is the first in three years when you can actually meet your mum in person on Mother's Day. As you might imagine pretty much every restaurant in London is hoping you'll take her out for brunch, lunch or dinner. To make it easier on you, we've picked out some highlights across town for it.
Flowers and a view at Aqua Shard
The bar and restaurant with a view has teamed up with Flowerbox so that every meal on the day can come with a bouquet of 25 yellow tulips, presented at your table. You can book either brunch or dinner and the tulips will cost an extra £25
Lamprais feast at Hoppers
This year, Hoppers is cooking up a special family feast for Mother's Day, with a special Dutch Burgher Lamprais at the heart of the menu. Wrapped in banana leaf, this features a Lampara chicken curry that's served alongside fragrant spiced Samba rice, prawn balachan, seeni sambol, ash plantain, Brinjal Pahi, egg and a fish frikkadel (with a vegetarian version available too).
Roses in Park Chinois
For Mothering Sunday, Park Chinois will have lunch accompanied by their trio house band and Head Pastry Chef Valentino Pepe has put on a special dessert for the day. It's the La Rosé dessert’ served with a strawberry and rose elixir.
Spa and brunch in Knightsbridge
If you really want to get in your mum's good books then book her in for a luxury spa experience at the Bvlgari Spa followed by brunch in their Italian restaurant, Sette (£315). The treat begins with a 90-minute massage with use of all the spa facilities, then she'll be whisked up to Sette for a cocktail, before enjoying their The Good Life Brunch.
The Seafood Bar is pampering mothers this Sunday by giving them a free platter of oysters and a glass of Champagne. You'll all enjoy a menu of sustainable seafood, and expertly mixed cocktails - just make sure you book in advance.
So long as your mum isn't one for vertigo, take her to Aqua Shard for a special Mother's Day dinner with dishes including whiskey-cured salmon to start served with blood orange, white asparagus, cider dressing & Oscietra caviar. The vegetarian menu sounds equally enticing. Diners will also get a glass of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label on arrival and there'll be a sweet treat to takeaway.
Market flowers and sushi in Shoreditch
East London izakaya Apothecary has teamed up with nearby Columbia Road market and will be giving a bunch of dried flowers to the matriarch at each table dining there for Mother's Day. Enjoy sushi alongside their new cocktail Spring Spritz.
