  Next up from Japan centre is a new ramen restaurant, inspired by the Yokocho alleys of Japan and based in Heddon Street. They'll have a range of ramen from across Japan, in a restaurant with a 70s feel.

They're starting with the Haggerston branch for now (which will be staffed by people who live close by), and will review how that goes before launching more branches.

• Japan Centre has just opened a retro Showaken ramen bar in Piccadilly

  London's first Showaken ramen bar is now open at the Japan Centre's Panton Street location, serving up special ramens with a retro-style vibe.

• Tonkotsu's latest ramen restaurant is in Shoreditch

  Tonkotsu really are becoming London's chief ramen joint with this, their eleventh opening in town. Expect the usual ramen (and a signature Shoreditch option) as well as gyoza and lots more.

• Koi Ramen and Tap In are first to sign up for new Elephant Park development in South London

  The new £2.3bn regeneration project at Elephant Park has signed up what will be the third London outlet of Koi Ramen, which specialises in Tonkotsu ramen noodles, and a brand new football bar and bottleshop called Tap In, serving over 300 craft beers and Cuban food.

• Yamagoya ramen returns to Soho and there will be raindrop cakes

  Yamagoya ramen originally started as a pop-up upstairs at Shuang Shuang. Now they're back, taking over the main restaurant for good and are bringing their famed raindrop cake with them.

• Japanese ramen bar Nagi Ramen is taking over Bone Daddies

  

  With another site imminent, Bone Daddies is showing no sign of slowing down. Although one of their restaurants (on St Christopher's Place) is having a big change for one week in September, as it's being taken over by famed Japanese ramen bar Nagi Ramen.

• Tonkotsu are bringing their ramen to Stratford

  The ever-popular Tonkotsu are expanding again, with their eighth London site scheduled for Stratford this at the end of July. Expect the usual signature homemade noodle ramen, gyoza and Japanese sides, alongside a selection of craft beer, sake and cocktails.
