What: Heddon Yokocho
In a nutshell: Japan Centre does ramen
Summing it all up: Next up from Japan centre is a new ramen restaurant, inspired by the Yokocho alleys of Japan and based in Heddon Street. They'll have a range of ramen from across Japan, in a restaurant with a 70s feel.
The low-down
Japan Centre is branching out again. At the beginning of this year, they opened a small Showaken ramen bar in the entrance of the large Japan Centre off Piccadilly - and now they're opening a ramen bar on Heddon Street.
Heddon Yokocho is taking over the space that used to be Sakagura (also from Japan Centre) and will be based on the Yokocho alleys of Japan while adding something of a 70's feel too. The menu will be all about ramen, showcasing broths from across Japan. In addition to tonkotsu (of course) there will be:
- Sapporo Miso, a miso-based chicken & pork broth ramen
- Hakodate Shio - a salt and miso-based broth ramen
- Vegan Napoli, tomato-based ramen with grilled tomato & mushroom topped with basil and vegan cheese
- The Yokocho, a soy-based chicken & pork broth ramen with slices of BBQ pork and topped with menma bamboo shoots, naruto fish cake, whole nitamago egg & nori seaweed.
Alongside those will be chicken karaage, buns, gyoza, and maki roll sushi. For drink they'll have highballs and chu-hi, made with shochu and flavoured with lemon, as well as sake and Japanese beer on draught.
