Mini wine-bar sibling to The Barbary

Brother Marcus, which has already opened in Islington, Spitalfields, Borough and Kensington, are getting ready to open their fifth restaurant. This time, it's in Covent Garden and will be the latest opening in The Yards development. They'll be taking over the site that was Miscusi and more recently hosted the Prelude by Oriole

We'll confess we had no idea that Matt Lovell and Rob Hampton - the duo better known as The Oystermen - had opened a wine bar called Bedford Street Wines in Covent Garden a few years back. But you live and learn and now the pair are at it again. They're just about to launch a pop-up wine bar and bottle shop, Monmouth Street Wines, in Covent Garden's Seven Dials.

Since originally starting as a pop-up, they've been hugely popular and now have stalls in Camden and Borough as well as a Spitalfields shop. And now they're coming to central London.

There's no getting away from the fact that, so far, it has been a dismal summer. And there's one activity that the poor weather is guaranteed to mess with which is the great British picnic. Maybe hoping they'll get the same kind of queues that Alley Cats do, a brand new pizza spot is opening in Covent Garden. Doughnation will be at 3 Henrietta Street, taking over part of the ground floor where Gentlemen Baristas used to be, as well as a terrace on the piazza.
