An oozy tortilla from Camino
It's a busy old year for Spanish restaurant folk Camino who have just spent the last few months buying up several of London's Iberica restaurants out of administration (the Farringdon and Victoria Iberica will both become Camino as a result). But they're also working on something brand new - a pintxo bar in Covent Garden.
Talking to various industry titles, Camino's boss Richard Bigg revealed that the bar, which will be inside the piazza itself, will serve up a Basque-only menu of drinks and pintxos. The group's executive chef Nacho del Campo hails from the Basque region so he's working on a mixture of hot and cold pintxos along with a wine list that includes the area's famous (and theatrically-poured) txakoli in white, red, orange and sparkling forms.
They're promising it will be informal and fun and somewhere to entice Londoners back into the mainly tourist area that the central part of Covent Garden has become.
