  Santiago Lastra has brought a fine-dining edge to his new Mexican restaurant Kol. We head down to Marylebone to check it out.  

• A Nobu Hotel has opened in Marylebone's Portman Square

  

  Nobu Berkeley Street may have closed, but much of the the team has moved onto this bigger endeavour. The second Nobu Hotel in London features a huge new restaurant, a bar with a terrace and its own sushi bar. And yes, there will be Black Cod Miso. 

• The Italians wine bar and bistro heads to Marylebone's Devonshire Street

  

  The team behind Chiswick deli and pizzeria, The Italians, are preparing for a Marylebone opening this winter. The Italians' new home on Devonshire Street will be a wine bar and bistro.

  As with their Chiswick site, the key thing will be the sourcing of top drawer Italian food and drink. The all Italian wine list will change seasonally and there'll be loads available by the glass. They'll be baking focaccia fresh in-house

• Carousel returns to Marylebone kicking off a new series of residencies

  

  After shutting down back in March, rolling residency restaurant Carousel is back in action in Marylebone. They've just launched a new series of residencies throughout October. You'll have a chance to see what some chefs have been working on, preview an upcoming restaurant and there's even a chef from overseas.

• The Cavendish relaunches with ex-Oystermen and Hartnett chef and new look

  

  Over in Marylebone, gastropub and dining room The Cavendish is about to reopen and is setting out its stall as a serious destination for food. Key to that is who they've put in charge of the kitchen. Executive Chef Alex Povall was most recently Head Chef at The Oystermen, but before that spent years working under Angela Hartnett at her restaurants.

• Kol is the London restaurant from Noma Mexico's Santiago Lastra

  He was the man behind the launch of Noma Mexico and now Santiago Lastra is opening his own restaurant in London called Kol. It'll feature Mexican cuisine with UK ingredients. 

• Taka Mk II comes to Marylebone, with new dishes - including a wagyu sando

  

  They already had a small, popular restaurant in Mayfair and now Japanese restaurant Taka are heading to Marylebone, where The Providores used to be. A much larger space, they'll have lots of new dishes (including a wagyu sando) and some great-sounding cocktails.

• Le Relais De Venise launch a delivery steak & chips sarnie called La Baguette

  

  When you've made your name by sticking to a tried and tested formula, it would take something pretty momentous to change that. But that's a pandemic for you.

  The next restaurant to return from lockdown is Homeslice pizza - starting with Marylebone and following up with Shoreditch. They're open for both delivery and collection, setting up shop on Supper and Deliveroo.
