Four London restaurants given 3 AA rosettes

Four London restaurants are celebrating today as they join the ranks of those establishments awarded three rosettes by the AA. They are 1901, Launceston Place, Aubergine and Seven Park Place by William Drabble.

AA Hotel Services’ group area manager, Giovanna Grossi said, 'I am delighted to welcome more restaurants into the higher Rosette awards.’

Of Launceston Place the inspectors said; ‘Chef Tristan Welch has a track record at celebrated restaurants (notably Pétrus) and his menus are in the modern vein: seasonally inspired, grounded in classical France and with bags of creative ideas, food at Launceston Place is bursting with flavour and demonstrates great technical skills and imagination.'

William Drabble at Seven Park Place was praised for ‘utilising top notch seasonal and specialist ingredients’ and having ‘firmly placed this new restaurant on the London fine dining map,’ while the restaurant Drabble left – Aubergine – also retained its three stars as ‘a restaurant of refinement and ambition’.

Of all the restaurants, it's perhaps only 1901 that's the surprise on the list, given that it didn't really attract the attention of the critics when it opened late in 2008.  We fully expect some of them to be checking out its charms in the next few weeks.
