Updated 19/2/25 with brunch details and opening date
On Kensington High Street one burger chain has closed just to be replaced with another - albeit with the added bonus of lobster.
The new owners are Burger and Lobster and this will be their tenth London restaurant. You can expect this branch to serve the usual menu of lobster, lobster rolls and burgers (although we'd say the lobster remains by far the bigger draw here). They even have lobster croquettes.
The biggest news is that this will be the first London branch to offer their new brunch menu. Options will include The Full London, the Breakfast Smash - a smashed patty with melted cheese and a fried egg on a fresh brioche bun alongside a B&L Benedict with a choice of toppings like lobster, smoked salmon or spinach.
It should certainly fare better than what it was replacing. Gordon's Street Burger before its closure got some pretty poor reviews when it was in operation with one of the most recent reviews on TripAdvisor saying "I've never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant." That said, while some of the UK press have highlighted these reviews as the reason for its closure, the most recent one they got was a five-star rave, so you should take all that with at least a little pinch of salt.
Regardless, Burger & Lobster (certainly based on our recent visits to other branches) should fare much better in this location.
