It's been open on the QT for the last few months but only now has The Fat Badger officially opened for business. If you haven't heard of Notting Hill's worst-kept secret, then let us enlighten you. This is the latest opening from the team behind The Pelican, The Hero and, most recently, Canteen.
It's a pub and restaurant that takes over the floors above Canteen. Until now, you've had to gain access through an unmarked door on the side of the building. The pub is on the first floor and on the second is a full-blown restaurant. Running the kitchen here are George Williams (ex-River Cafe and Dorian) and Beth O'Brien who trained and worked at the prestigious Ballymaloe House in Cork.
There's no menu on their website, but we're told it "celebrates the best of British produce" with a set menu featuring three snacks, a starter, main, and dessert. Examples of recent dishes include:
- Duck leg taco
- Beef fillet with morels and hassleback potatoes
- Brown sugar tart
We've already heard that the pub element has been packing in the celebs since day one.
