It's the highest bar in London. Gong on the 52nd floor of the Shangri-la Shard opened its doors last week, so we popped along for a quick drink at the weekend to check it out.
As you might expect from any bar with such a USP drinks don't come cheap at this height. Signature cocktails start at £17 while classics are £15. If you're really feeling flush there's the Waterloo Punch Bowl for 2-4 to share at £120 which consists of a bottle of Deutz champagne, Rum Punch and Fruit. Wine might be a better bet if you're on a budget with glasses starting at £9.
There is a short bar menu which we tried two dishes from. The foie gras with yoghurt mousse and cherry gel at £14 was pretty much replicated on the Tapas Platter which for £20 is much better value and includes two tapas each of foie gras, Iberico ham, Waterloo cheese, lovely Forman's smoked salmon on smashed avocado and egg and cress.
Five days in, service was a little chaotic - so you might want to give it a while to bed down. The infinity swimming pool (which will have more seats alongside it) isn't open yet, so keep an eye on their Twitter feed for more news on that.
To make a reservation - which they highly recommend - go to their website.
