This attractive high street inn has a menu overseen by top chef Nuno Mendes (and an ex-Sportsman chef heading up the kitchen). It's as nice to pop into for a seasonal cocktail and snack as it is for a full-blown lunch or dinner.
Frog & Scot

This popular French bistro owned by locals Benoit and Sarah, serves up a winning mixture of French bistronomie with a nod to local influences. There's also an appealing looking negroni corner with seasonal takes on the cocktail.
Le Pinardier

On the same road as Frog & Scott, this sibling business is a snug little wine bar with a focus on French wines. They do a nice line in terrines and cheeses to go with the wines and if the weather's good, a glass of petit bourgeois on the bench outside is a must.
Deal Pier Kitchen

What better way to reward yourself for walking all th way to the end of Deal Pier than a lobster and crayfish roll with a glass of Chapel Down? The building itself won a RIBA award and you couldn't be closer to that perfect sea view.

Any chippie that makes its own tartare sauce goes up a notch in our estimation and a cod and chips here is the real deal.

Pop-up cafe

So called because - you guessed it - it started life as a more temporary endeavour, this veggie cafe makes its own sourdough, uses cultured English butter in its croissants and does a brunch sandwich which is properly life-giving.
The Lane

Sometimes you don't want crab platters and foraged ingredients after a day yomping along the seafront - that's when a plate of halloumi fries drizzled with sweet chilli, honey and pomegranate at The Lane hits the sweet spot. This is also a good place for hangover breakfasts too.

This Deal deli is great if you're self-catering, it also does lovely looking seaside picnic packages if you're here daytripping from basics with dips and soft drinks through to top level hampers with a chilled bottle of English fizz.
