Ryan Chetiyawardana's Seed Library bar in Shoredirch has had some notably great residencies since it opened, with recent takeovers including My Neighbours The Dumplings and Norman's Café. Their next team-up looks just as good, with Cavita the next place to take over the food menu for three months.
Chef Adriana Cavita's restaurant in Marylebone, celebrating its second birthday this month, is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the capital. If you haven't had the chance to visit the restaurant yet, then this east London residency should definitely be one to check out. The menu will include:
- Sikil pak - a spicy mayan dip with pumpkin seed, roasted tomato & coriander, served with totopos
- Tuna tostada - sashimi grade yellow tail in a soy & ginger dressing, with sesame seeds & avocado puree on heirloom corn tostada
- Brochetas de pollo - chicken thigh skewers with an axiote marination, pickled onion & morita sauce
- Tacos al pastor - chargrilled secreto iberico pork in a pastor marination, served with guacasalsa, grilled pineapple, habanero sauce & coriander
- Baja fish taco - fresh cod fillet fried in masa tempura, with black garlic mayo, mixed cabbage slaw, anchovies & caesar dressing
It finishes off with the Mexican cornbread pan de elote, which we tried at Cavita and thought was absolutely amazing. And as part of the residency, the bar also has a new cocktail - the ‘C.R.E.A.M Margarita’ with tequila, strawberry cream, lime, caprelous perry pear and coffee leaf.
Talking about the team-up, Adriana said "I have been a fan of Seed Library for a while and I have really enjoyed working with the team to pair my traditional Mexican food with their excellent drinks offering." Meanwhile, Ryan added that "Adriana is one of the most exciting – and lovely! – chefs we've come across in a while" with "an incredible pedigree, and such an infectious passion for her native Mexico".
