Holy Carrot has been getting a lot of love with a run of pop-ups and supperclubs over the past few years, and now it's going permanent in Notting Hill.
As the name suggests, it's a plant-based affair and for the restaurant, founder Irina Linovich has brought in Acme Fire Cult's Daniel Watkins to head up the menu as Executive Chef. Acme Fire Cult have always done pretty interesting things on the veg front, so this does feel like a good fit. For the menu here, he'll apparently be focusing on micro-seasonal ingredients and small-scale producers and foragers. There will, of course, be a fair bit of open-fire cooking too.
That all translates into dishes like:
- Lion’s mane (that's a mushroom) & miso gravy
- Smoked chilli butter carrot skewer
- Roasted oyster mushroom, tahini, dashi, garum & mushroom salt
- Roasted squash, bhel puri crunch, fermented garlic & chat masala
- Grilled pineapple & miso butterscotch soft serve
For the drinks side, there's a focus on natural and biodynamic wines and their cocktails sound very interesting, as they've teamed up with A Bar with Shapes for a Name. They'll be behind a low-waste cocktail list.
The look of the restaurant (which used to be a Patty & Bun) should be impressive too, as they've brought in architect/design firm Al-Jawad Pike who have worked on a lot of fashion stores across the world. So expect this restaurant to be very Instagram/Tik Tok friendly.
