Smashing Plates brings Greek street food to London Bridge

Smashing Plates brings Greek street food to London Bridge

We've only just written about a Greek restaurant opening in Crouch End and now there's news of a Greek street food restaurant, Smashing Plates, opening in London Bridge.

Smashing Plates comes from Neofytos Christodoulou and is his take on Greek and Cypriot street food classics. There will be chicken, pork, lamb (with responsibly-sourced meat and butchered in-house) and plant-based gyros, all marinated in Greek oregano for 24 hours before being chargrilled to order, and finished off with their ‘Smashing Sauce’ - a combination of roasted aubergine and garlic butter.

Alongside those are a range of Greek salads as well as a panakopita filo roll,  stuffed with spinach, feta, sprinkled with sesame seeds. It all finishes up with spiced cinnamon pita and handmade baklava. Alas, it doesn't look like there will be actual plates to smash.

They look like they have big plans to expand too - with sites in Wembley, Tooting and Canary Wharf to follow.
