Slowly but surely, London's department stores are beginning to emerge from Lockdown. A few weeks back we had Selfridges reopening their food hall. This morning it's the turn of Piccadilly's Fortnum & Mason.
The West End grocers will open the doors to the ground and basement first - allowing Piccadilly residents to shop at its fresh food halls. They'll test that out first with the intention of reopening the rest of the store in stages over the coming weeks.
News of the reopening was met with delight on Twitter last night.
I’m genuinely thrilled at any shop re-opening. Good on Fortnums, hopefully the whole shop will be open soon. Next step Selfridges.

And as the store CEO Ewan Venters said: "We’ve been around for 312 years and we are going nowhere, other than getting back to business and serving our customers better than ever before!"
