New London restaurants coming in February 2020

As we all celebrate making it through January, here are the new restaurants opening in February that should be on your radar.

Dominique Ansel Treehouse

Dominique Ansel Treehouse

Covent Garden - 13-15 West St, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9NE

What: Ansel glorifies pastry

Dominique Ansel's new Covent Garden restaurant is something of a departure for him. For one, the Cronut (his most famed pastry) will not be available at all, even in the bakery downstairs. Instead, this will be a restaurant with a focus on pastry in the form of bread, pies, pasta and more.

Chuku's

Chuku's

Tottenham - 274 High Road, London, N15 4RR

What: Nigerian tapas goes permanent

Ever since they started popping up around East London, Chuku's Nigerian tapas have become hugely popular. This sees them in their first permanent restaurant, in Tottenham, featuring the best of the pop-ups along with brand new dishes, including Plantain Waffles and Suya Meatballs. Along with that there'll be Nigerian beer and palm wine cocktails as well.

Goods Way

Goods Way

King's Cross - 11 Goods Way, London, N1C 4UR

This is the King's Cross outpost from the same people who brought us Flat Iron Square at London Bridge. There's a live music venue, Lafayette, an American-style bar called Sweetwater and a covered area, The Courtyard, with food traders Breddos Tacos and The Duck Truck kicking things off alongside the highly anticipated UK debut for NYC's Sushi On Jones.

Hoppers

Hoppers

King's Cross - Pancras Square, Kings Cross, N1C 4AG

Also in King's Cross, February sees Hoppers open their latest Sri Lankan restaurant. From the same team as Gymkhana (also making a return in February) this is the third Hoppers. As well as classics from the existing restaurants, expect new dishes like "Ambulthial Cutlets and Sizzling Beef Poriyal". The King's Cross site also has the largest Hoppers bar yet.

Padella Shoreditch

Padella Shoreditch

Shoreditch - 1 Phipp Street, London EC2A 4PS

What: Hugely popular pasta bar #2

The original Padella has retained its huge following since opening in 2016  - if anything, its popularity has gradually increased. But if you've ever travelled to the Borough pasta bar (one of the best fresh pasta spots in London) and thought "how long?" when being told of the waiting time for a table, this new restaurant in Shoreditch will be very welcome. Expect all the hits from the original.

Townsend

Townsend

Whitechapel - 77-82 Whitechapel High St, Shadwell, London E1 7QX

What: The Whitechapel Gallery gets new tenants

Although this has just this minute opened the doors, the official opening is in February. This sees a new restaurant take over at The Whitechapel Gallery with Nick Gilkinson (previously at both Anglo and the popular Garden Café in Lambeth) and Joe Fox, ex-Head Chef of Petersham Nurseries, in charge. It'll be all about Modern British dining.
