Summing it all up: One of our readers' favourite restaurants in town is coming to Shoreditch. Expect their amazing piri piri chicken, brand new Portuguese dishes and piri piri beer too.

The low-down

They were voted Hot Dinners readers favourite new restaurant of 2018 and now Casa do Frango lovers have more reason to cheer - they're opening a second restaurant in Shoreditch.

As before, it's all about the cuisine of the Algarve - with influences from all over Portugal mixed in. Obviously, the centre of the menu is all about their piri piri chicken, that's been such a hit at the original. And more favourites will make the move, including African rice, grilled chorizo, charred cauliflower and the Montanheira salad,.

New dishes coming to the menu will be Prawn Rice (Arroz de Camarão), Portuguese beef cheek stew (Carne Guisada) and acorn-fed black pork from the Alentejo (Porco Preto).

The new restaurant is split into two. Downstairs will have more of a cafe vibe, with a menu of petiscos - the Portuguese equivalent of tapas. There will be an open plan bakery and yes, lots of varieties of pastéis de nata - the amazing Portuguese custard tarts that we frankly just can't get enough of - will be baked daily.

Upstairs will be the main dining room, and there will be an open kitchen so you can watch the chefs working away on the wood-fired grill.

As for drinks, it will have exclusively Portuguese wine and have a cocktail list that uses Portuguese spirits, such as Medronho (Fig Liqueur) and Ginjinha (Ginja Berries Liqueur). They'll also have three house Casa do Frango beers - including the Piri Piri Cerveja da Casa on draught, a spice-infused blend and the Fogo - an extra spicy piri piri blend, available by the bottle. So if you've opted for very spicy chicken, you really should order the Fogo too.
