City workers who love a good, meaty lunch will surely by now have encountered Walter and Monty, the street-food-turned-permanent grill experts who live next to the Gherkin. Well, now you'll be able to get your fix after you've left the office for the day too, as they're expanding their operations to include an evening service.
"W&M Nights" will take place from Wednesdays to Fridays and will see a new, rather extensive dinner menu on offer. It’ll mainly be grilled "sticks and plates", plus a handful of sides, all inspired by Spanish pintxos. The dishes be small in size, so you're better off getting a couple if you're hungry, according to the restaurant.
Some of your (many) choices, priced from £2 to £13, will include:
- Chicken Shawarma with Tadziki
- Miguez Banger with Ras El Hanout Mayo
- Confit Chicken Wings deep fried in Panko and served with Hot Sauce
- Beef Picanha with Chimichurri
- King Prawns with Lemon Aioli
- Chorizo with Dipping Soldiers
They'll also be trying their hand at cocktails, which is good news, because what's a good post-work feed without something strong to wash it down? The cocktail menu was created with some help from Background Bars, and promises classics with a twist, like Old Fashioneds with Aztec Chocolate Bitters and Plymouth Sloe Gin, as well as more original concoctions like their Dirty Jess with Pampelle - a ruby grapefruit aperitif - Prosecco and, olive brine.
"Essentially, it’s a pintxos style-drinking food menu, with brilliant cocktails!" said founder Alex Kaye.
