Chef Rob Roy Cameron (ex-41 Degrees, Untitled) returns to London with this Northern Spain-inspired restaurant focused on open-fire cooking. Expect Basque flavours applied to top British produce, like Iberico pork from Brett Graham’s Shropshire farm and Cornish-grown Spanish peppers. Drinks, curated by Dino Koletsas (ex-Harrods), feature fine wines on tap, low-intervention bottles, and artisanal ciders. Spread over two floors, with a private dining room and heated terrace, this is a great, elevated Spanish experience.

Legado is the second restaurant from Nieves Barragan, who won a Michelin star for Sabor. The Shoreditch restaurant, dominated by a huge open kitchen and counter, features dishes from across Spain, delivered with the panache that you'd expect from the chef. That's paired with an excellent Spanish wine list and an all-day bar with its own snacks menu.

Tasca at Cav

Tasca is from chef Josh Dallaway and sommelier Sinead Murdoch. They're in charge of the kitchen at East London bar Cav, with Tasca. It takes inspiration from their travels through Spain and France, from which they've brought back elements of classic dishes and given them a modern London twist. Expect a parade of excellent small plates and a particularly good European wine list that celebrates female-founded vineyards and female winemakers.

Ibai comes from the team behind renowned Basque meat supplier Txuleta (also involved with Lurra in Marylebone) so you know the meat will be of great quality at this City restaurant. Alongside the huge sharing steaks are some great Basque-inspired small plates and the king crab rice is also a signature dish. Make good use of the wine list too, with many great Spanish vintages unique to Ibai.

Popular tapas spot Boqueria is an independent restaurant focusing on giving Battersea residents a flavour of Spain. As the name suggests, it’s inspired by Barcelona’s iconic food market - expect a range of croquetas, classic tapas, and proper paella. If you want to push the boat out the restaurant’s roast suckling pig is a must and the wine list is a treasure trove of well-known favourites and lesser-known gems.

Run by the double act of chef Nieves Barragán and GM Josè Etura, Sabor is the kind of restaurant everyone wants to try, and once they've been are immediately plotting a return visit. It's a restaurant of two halves with the Asador on the upper level and counter dining by the open kitchen on the ground floor. Obviously, you're going to want the croquetas, but everything else will be great as well.

Topa takes over Provisions wine and cheese shop on Holloway Road in the evenings, transforming it into a Basque-inspired restaurant and wine bar. There's a menu of pintxos which changes regularly, all prepared in the tiny cooking space at the back. That's all paired with the excellent wines and cheese that Provisions is already known for.

Lolo is Jose Pizarro's third restaurant on Bermondsey Street and, like the others, this brings something a little new. This time it's an all day, casual affair. So he's added extras like sandwiches and some truly great egg dishes, alongside a Spanish sharing plate experience.

This is from the people behind Donostia - and it's just across the road from their sibling. It's a much larger restaurant and there's a big emphasis on the aged Galician beef, which they import themselves (and supply other restaurants with too). An excellent place to try Basque-style steak in London - and they've a lovely private courtyard too.

This is the second space for Tomos Parry's hit restaurant Brat, taking over the (covered) courtyard of the Climpson's Arch roastery. Expect a similar menu to the Shoreditch original - plenty of Galician steaks, grilled fish and lots of Basque influence throughout.

At the top of the Standard hotel in King's Cross, Decimo is run by chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias and features tapas-style food inspired by Mexico and Spain. The views are breathtaking, and you can enjoy pre-dinner drinks at the super glamorous rooftop bar.

Barrafina comes from the Harts Group (also behind El Pastor) and the restaurants serve up some of the very best Spanish tapas in London. It's also predominantly about counter dining and if you manage to get a seat at that counter, the tapas (particularly the tortilla) will be worth it. There's also a bar, Bar Daskal, attached if you want to have a drink before or after.

Here, he's taken over two of the restaurants in the Royal Academy - their main restaurant in the Dorfman Senate Rooms and the Poster Bar downstairs. José Pizarro has a small but select group of restaurants in London - this is his diminutive sherry and tapas joint. The menu changes daily and consists of simple sharing plates such as Razor Clams 'a la plancha' and the best Jamon Iberico. The decor mirrors the style and feel of Barcelona's Boqueria market.

This Spanish restaurant on Upper Street comes from expert jamón producers Jamon y Salud, so you'd be expecting their jamon to be of a particularly high standard (it is). But it's not all about ham as the restaurant does a great line in authentic Spanish tapas, as well as serving up excellent Spanish wines. It's also worth popping in and grabbing a seat on the bar if you just need a snack.
