We're intrigued by a new opening coming up in Spring from the group responsible for Tamarind and Imli Street. They're launching One Kensington - a private club-style space that doesn't require membership. Open all day from breakfast through to dinner, you can eat, or just hangout with friends or have business meetings in a super spot overlooking Kensington Palace Gardens.
Situated in a former bank that used to be the restaurant Zaika, the Grade II listed, late Gothic revival Victorian building will feature a separate bar with a champagne table and dining room. The restaurant will seat over 60 while there'll be room for 36 dining up at the counter in the bar and 12 people at the special champagne table.
The Executive chef will be Massimiliano Blasone who previous worked at Nikita's in Malibu (lucky him!) and at Apsleys at The Lanesborough. He'll be aided in the kitchen by Sanjay Gour (who was previously at Murano) who's been appointed Executive Pastry Chef.
Expect dishes like Soft eggs with parmesan cream, prosciutto powder and amaranth for starters and Scallops with asparagus, papaya and grilled pumpkin for mains. Set lunch will be £24 for two courses and £29 for three. Cocktails start at £9.50 for a gin sling and go up to £14.50 for a bellini or French 75 while champagne at the special table in the bar starts at £45 and heads skywards for a bottle of Dom Perignon Rosé 2000 at £400.
One Kensington will open on 24 March 2014 at 1 Kensington High Street, London W8 5NP
