If, like us, you never skip past a tortilla slap video on social, you might be interested to know that a whole evening devoted to this form of entertainment is coming to London.
The UK's first official tortilla slap championship is taking place at Market Place in Vauxhall in November. If you haven't wasted hours of your life watching the phenomenon on Insta or TikTok, then let us enlighten you on it. It involves having the two competitors face each other with water-filled mouths and tortillas in hand. They slap each other with the tortilla in the hope that their opponent will start laughing and then spray out the water. It's very funny to watch, so we can see why someone's decided to turn this into a proper spectator sport.
Foodie influencer Fat Boi London will be the host of the tournament and the evening will kick off with a Lucha Libre wrestling match, there'll be a mariachi band and - the clincher this - free tacos and margaritas for spectators.
