Soho's hottest new speakeasy Zum Barbarossa is underneath The Seafood Bar

Zum Barbarossa brings an underground speakeasy to Soho's Seafood Bar

The Seafood Bar in Soho has always had a pretty impressive lower ground space, but now it's undergone a complete transformation for their brand new speakeasy Zum Barbarossa.

It's actually the second outpost of the bar, as they previously launched it in Amsterdam, but this one really benefits from the location, particularly the original brick-arched alcoves that really give off a proper speakeasy feel.

Things are led by the cocktails down here, with options like Spicy Rose Paloma, Hot Honey Highball and a Banana & Pineapple Daiquiri. However, there is also a bar food menu down here that is, of course, taking its cue from the upstairs restaurant. On that, you'll find:

  • Caviar served with blinis, creme fraiche, shallots, & chives
  • Dressed oysters with passionfruit lime oil dressing or prosecco, strawberry pearls & shallot vinaigrette
  • Crab cakes

When the Seafood Bar first opened, we thought the downstairs space looked impressive then, but they've really gone to town now. It's certainly something to bear in mind for a Soho night out.
