Michelin-starred SOLA is offering a la carte for the first time

Promoted content

Back in December when Soho restaurant SOLA unveiled its dramatic new look, one of the key new additions was the Bourbon Room lounge and bar downstairs. Now they're using that space to offer diners the chance to pop in and try the restaurant's key dishes on an a la carte basis, rather than opting for the usual tasting menu experience.

If you haven't been before, the modern Californian restaurant normally serves a multiple-course tasting menu in various sizes from lunch and pre-theatre through to a 10-course extravaganza. But following feedback from regulars, who said they'd love to pop back in and try one or two of their favourites, they're now serving up some of those most popular dishes a la carte.

Created by the restaurant's chef-patron Victor Garvey and head chef Andy Parker the menu allows diners to try some of SOLA's most popular dishes. Order one or two, or devise your own menu. You can try their flight of five snacks, including the signature "Devilled Egg", Lox, Pork & Apple, Sardine and Surf & Turf.

Devilled EggOne of SOLA's signature dishes - the Devilled Egg.

And from the rest of the menu, there are dishes like the Dartmouth confluence crab with pea, osmanthus and miso and the following:

roomHamachi sashimi with avocado and kinako

Devilled Egg21 Day aged Duck with black olive praline, compressed Ercolini pear, and rainbow chard

roomPoached turbot with steamed sea vegetables, celeriac, razor clams, and caviar chowder

roomChocolate with Kristal Kaviari caviar

"For the à la carte, it's really aimed at those guests who've been to SOLA, had a tasting menu and have loved one dish so much they want to come back just for that," says Victor, "which is a huge compliment to the team. But if it also means that people maybe try a couple of dishes before committing to a full tasting menu, or just want to discover our food more affordably, then we'll be very happy with that too."

Anything that gives London's restaurant goers more ways to enjoy Michelin-starred food is always a good thing in our books - so this definitely sounds worth a try.
