- Test Driving 27 Old Compton Street - the late night pasta bar that's exactly what Soho needs right now
Amidst a sea of luxury openings comes a well-priced Soho spot that wants to make sitting down for a bowl of pasta and a glass of wine an easy, fun thing to do. We find that 27 Old Compton Street is very much to our taste.
- Buttered up - Soho's new single item restaurant Butter LDN is for dairy lovers only
Updated 12pm 1/4/25 - we know we've tricked a fair few of you, who've started following Butter on Insta, but this was our 2025 April Fool and one to add to our long line of April Fool's Day jokes. That said, if anyone does want to open a restaurant like this, we'd be 100% up for it.
This city loves a single item spot -
... - Seventy Five is a new restaurant inside Liberty with an Ex-Da Terra chef in charge
I
Somewhat out of the blue, Liberty on Regent Street is getting ready to open a brand new restaurant. It's part of their 150th anniversary celebrations, hence the name of the restaurant, Seventy Five.
It sees them teaming up with catering group Goose + Berry and while that might make you wonder if it's just another in-store restaurant, they do appear to have brought in an interesting head chef. Joe Holness has previously been at Da Terra and Fera at Claridge's so he has a good restaurant background in his CV. As for the menu, it'll be focusing on British cuisine,
... - KitKat is bringing back a Blockbuster video pop-up to Soho
It's been a while since we've had a mad pop-up in Soho, but this next one certainly qualifies. It comes from KitKat and, for reasons which we can't quite put together, they've decided to celebrate it with a Blockbuster store on Greek Street.
Apparently (in a recent survey) Blockbuster was recently voted one of the top five missed stores on the high street - clearly by people
... - London is about to get another must-try new noodle shop as Songhelou arrives in Soho
Central London is firmly in the grip of a noodle craze - the queues outside Noodle Inn aren't getting any shorter and there's the new Noodle & Beer in Chinatown too. Now, here's news of a third hot new noodle restaurant coming to the area. Songhelou is a Chinese restaurant that has real history, having first opened in Suzhou back in 1737.
The dish to have features their famous Suzhou-style noodles. Think slim noodles
... - Marjorie's is a new contemporary wine bar and French restaurant for Soho
As longstanding Hot Dinners readers should know, we do love a good wine bar. So we're very interested in combo wine bar and French restaurant Marjorie's which is opening in Soho soon.
It comes from a duo that are new to hospitality, Michael Searle & Josh Anderson but who have brought in someone very interesting on the food side, head chef Giacomo Peretti (ex-Le Gavroche,

- Filipino bakery and cafe Panadera is opening in Soho

... - Angelo Sato's Humble Chicken closes for a big refurb, in search of that third Michelin star
When most chefs earn their second Michelin star, they can then allow themselves to bask in the glory (and the extra bookings) for at least a few months. But not Angelo Sato and Humble Chicken.
The restaurant started out as a primarily yakitori affair back in 2021. Then, it pivoted to more of an omakase/tasting menu approach in 2023,
... - 27 Old Compton Street is aiming to be Soho's hot new pasta bar
He already has two more Italian restaurants in Soho named after the street they're in, so when restaurateur Nima Safaei came around to giving his latest opening a moniker he stayed true to form, naming it after its address on Compton Street. But while this new restaurant may share a naming convention with its sibling restaurants, it's going to be quite a different beast.
The new spot is focusing on quick pasta - think of
