There's news of another big restaurant closure today - this time it's Tom Brown's Michelin-starred Cornerstone in Hackney.
There had been rumours that Brown was looking to relocate Cornerstone to a more central location, but apparently that's no longer the case. According to hospitality website The Caterer, the closure of the seafood restaurant has mainly come about as a cost issue, with the costs of a tasting menu restaurant as well as customers' changing tastes being mentioned as reasons.
In a statement released, Brown said "Cornerstone has been my proudest moment, and it still fills my heart with pride to reflect on what it represents for me, the people who have worked here, and those we have had the pleasure of serving."
His other restaurant, Pearly Queen in Shoreditch is still going strong and that's where the chef will be concentrating his efforts going forward.
A date for the last service of Cornerstone is yet to be announced.
