Looks like Hackney Wick's Fish Island is doing pretty well for itself at the moment with restaurants. We've already reported on the upcoming Inis opening there and Test Driven new pizzeria Unlock, and now we're bringing you news of a new pasta restaurant that opened its doors just a month ago.
Darling's is the passion project of chef Egle Loit. Originally a journalist, her love for restaurants saw her seeking out work at Lardo before she switched careers to train as a professional chef. Here in Fish Island she's not only serving up fresh pasta, she's also offering pasta making classes too.
On the menu you'll find pasta dishes including:
- Bucatini with anchovy, garlic and chillis sauce
- Malfadine with a leek and fennel sausage ragu
- Tagliorini made with saffron, caccio e burro and served with sage and Parmesan
There's also a small selection of starters like aubergine fritti with tomato jam and we're keen to try the rhubarb frangipane with marscarpone.
"It is so universal, yet endless in its variety," says Egle of the past she's making in Hackney. "I am seeking to create beauty, meaning and pleasure through pasta, through food." And if you really love pasta she's offering membership to her pasta club which will meet monthy to make pasta and enjoy wine tastings.
