The closure of Michel Roux's Le Gavroche earlier this year was something of a shock for fans of the restaurant. That had followed the closure of the chef's Roux at the Landau (at the Langham), which has since been taken over by Mimosa. However, it turns out that the chef wasn't finished at The Langham, merely changing rooms.
Called Chez Roux, the chef will be taking over the Palm Court space that the very popular Good Front Room has been popping up in for a while now. That residency will be there until 30 April, although hopefully Dom Taylor's restaurant will appear in another guise soon.
Chez Rouz is apparently a combination of British classics and traditional French cooking methods. That means a menu that will feature both a Welsh rarebit and grilled lobster with fries and bearnaise (apparently a dish that the chef remembers from his childhood).
With the chef concentrating his London efforts here, it should hopefully fare better than The Landau, and we'll have more details on the menu closer to the opening date.
