Exciting news for North Londoners - we're bringing you news of a new pop up that will satisfy both lovers of Spanish flavours and the wines of Burgundy.
After a successful soft-launch weekend in early March the team behind Barra Bourgogne, comprising chef Iain (formerly of Stoke Newington’s Jolene) and Richard Oakley as front of house, are opening up to evening diners. Richard’s experience goes back to the glory days of Mayfair’s Brasserie Chavot, and more recently he has been putting on seafood and wine pop-up nights in London, so you are in safe hands here.
While the wine list is exclusively from France’s Burgundy, the cuisine is an ode to Spain, with any non-Spanish ingredients sourced fresh from the New Forest. The short menu covers everything from nibbles to accompany drinks (Manzanilla olives, fried almonds, boquerones) to larger plates and includes:
- Torta de garbanzos, spinach, raisins, pine nuts
- BBQ calçots, romesco sauce
- Pork belly, beans, mojo verde
- Grilled Idiazabal cheese sandwich, BBQ sauce, guindilla
- Paleta Ibérica de Bellota, picos de pa
All Burgundy wines (ranging from Pinot Blancs, Sauvignon Blancs and Chardonnays to Grand Crus from the Côte d’Or) are available by the glass or bottle. Keep an eye on the website, as the plan is for the pop-up to move to various locations around N5 after a month or so at Highbury Arts Club.
