We've already had one story this week about a Manze pie shop being reborn in a new guise, and now there's another. This time it's the turn of Japanese restaurant Taro, who have taken over the old Walthamstow L Manze (which shut almost a year ago) for their latest restaurant.
If you've not come across them yet, they're a Japanese restaurant that first opened in Soho in 1999, but they've been on a big expansion drive recently, with three of them opening in the past two years (they've only just opened in Pimlico too). There's a big old menu to choose from, ranging from lunch bento boxes to noodles, ramen and sushi.
In Walthamstow, paying homage to the listed Grade II L Manze building (which will retain its original tiles and floor), they've added the Manze Dragon Roll. That's a large sushi roll filled with avocado, asparagus, crab stick, tobiko and teriyaki sauce, and topped with grilled eel and sesame seeds.
So the pie shop is staying as a restaurant and should still be well worth checking out.
