He opened the acclaimed Sucre in Soho in 2021 and now one of Latin America’s best known chefs is about to bring a pop-up dining concept to Shoreditch called Mostrador. It follows hot on the heels of Mostrador success stories around the world, starting with a summer-only pop-up a decade ago in beachside José Ignacio, Uruguay. Mostrador outlets in Buenos Aires and Montauk in The Hamptons followed (Gwyneth being a fan of the latter).
For the UK’s six-month residency of Mostrador, the 100-cover restaurant will be a fixture of the Hart Shoreditch Hotel and features all-day dining, with chef Jack Godik at the pass, who has worked at the original Mostrador in Uruguay and at Jason Atherton’s The Little Social. There will be seven pastry chefs responsible for all your daily bread needs, as well as patisserie temptations (hello Argentinian croissants) alongside the 80% vegetarian menu. Signature Mostrador dishes include:
- Sweet potato, Latin criolla sauce and fresh coriander
- Butternut squash, honey, lime, cinnamon vinaigrette, kale and feta
- Chia pudding, almonds, coconut and orange wedges
- Walnut and pear frangipane
There will also be grab-and-go dishes in eco-friendly packaging if you want to impress your desk-bound colleagues.
