Just opened on Shaftesbury Avenue is Hong Kong-style tea restaurant, The Eight. It's apparently inspired by Hong Kong's 1950s-style tearooms - think greasy spoon meets diner. This new restaurant is serving up all manner of Hong Kong treats like:
- Abalone wanton noodle
- Rice wrapped in omelette with wagyu beef
- Rickshaw noodles.
“The tea rooms back home are heavily inspired by cuisine from around the world," according to a restaurant spokesperson, "and we wanted to bring this unique experience to the UK. We know The Eight will feel right at home here.”
If you're in a bit of a rush you can always pop in for a milk tea and a snack like Hong Kong curry fish balls and red bean pudding cake but from what we've seen, early reports are that the custard French toast and pineapple buns are the dishes to go for.
