The people behind popular cafe Abuelo in Covent Garden are expanding. They'll be launching another cafe, Uncle Zorro, just around the corner and this one also features a basement bar.
The ground floor will be the cafe. There you'll find gourmet salads and hot sandwiches as well as the speciality coffee they currently serve up Abuelo. They'll be using a Modb coffee machine, which only keeps the heads and steamers on view - giving a much cleaner approach to the bar. Beans will be single-origin beans from Central and South America, sourced directly from small local farmers by a British roastery.
Downstairs is where things shift away from coffee. That will be a 70s-influenced bar with space for around 40. Drinks will be Australian wines alongside natural and biodynamic wines from new and interesting producers around the world, togther with a classic cocktail selection. Food-wise, there's a cheese toastie menu and sharing plates. And on top of that, there's also a separate vault for private parties
It all comes from Alejandro, Lynette and Cloe De la Vega Chloe who between them have worked as architects, restaurateurs and in the fashion business- so it should look pretty special.
