Richoux 2.0 is reopening in Mayfair and it sounds promising

Richoux is reopening in Mayfair with a brand new team

Classic London cafe Richoux had been on the same spot in Mayfair for 100 years before it closed its doors last year. But now it's about to re-open under the same name.

Taking over the space are Jamie Butler and Lewis Spencer who met at Moor Hall and have experience at Eleven Madison Park in New York and Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons over here - so this already sounds very promising. The new version of Richoux will still be inspired by Parisian Grand Cafés and that means you can expect dishes like:

  • Mediterranean prawns, dressed with olive oil, fresh lemon juice and salt
  • Raw tuna and watermelon, made with sushi-grade tuna
  • Salmon a la Plancha with wild rice, artichokes, lemon and pickled cucumber
  • Grilled Chicken Paillard in a citrus gremolata, served with rocket and toasted almonds
  • Crispy Duck Salad with homemade hoisin dressing, candied cashew, spring onion and gem lettuce

There will also be a patisserie counter up front, with "Cruffins" being the signature dish (yes, that's a mix of a croissant and a muffin). Flavours will include passion fruit and banana creme, sea salt and caramelised white chocolate custard and vanilla bean and raspberry.

It certainly sounds like new life is being breathed into this institution.
