Reenie's ice-cream parlour opens in Primrose Hill

What's a thespian to do, when all the theatres are shut? According to London actress Sirine Saba, it's the perfect time to make a sideways step into hospitality. Sirine has just opened Reenies, an ice-cream parlour in Primrose Hill, next to longstanding veggie spot Manna.

"Reenie’s is our Covid baby," explains Sirine, "conceived and born out of a desire to connect with, uplift and delight our community at a time when we all need it most."

Although it's takeaway only at the moment, the hope is that you'll eventually be able to sit and enjoy a hot chocolate or ice-cream sundae inside where the decor's been inspired by 1950s American soda shops.

Flavours-wise they'll be serving up cones including strawberry buttermilk, salted caramel and hazelnut as well as a 'movie night icecream' topped with almond and vanilla cookies. There's even a special dog ice-cream for Primrose Hill pooches.

"Ten months ago I was an actress rehearsing the part of my life at the Royal Court Theatre in London," says Sirine, who's appeared on stage at the Royal Court and National Theatre as well as having a recurring role on Holby City. "Then our beautiful theatres closed. Here I am now, still an actress, about to open an ice cream parlour."
