During the lockdown, Gizzi Erskine and Professor Green had been teaming up for "‘Giz & Green’s Monday Night Fakeaway" where they recreated their favourite takeaways from McDonald's to Wagamama. Now they're teaming up in real life, kicking off a pop-up at Passo.
It's all based around one of the most popular dishes from the series - their take on the deep dish pizza. Pizzas, made from rye sourdough, include a Hawaiian, Pepperoni and Veggie stuffed crust and a Chicken BBQ stuffed crust pizza which includes a team up with Tabasco Chipotle Sauce. Everything will be locally sourced, even down to their San Marzano tomatoes, apparently.
They're taking over the whole restaurant as it reopens, and it will be available for both dine-in and delivery/collection. Here's what they have to say about the pop-up:
Gizzi Erskine: “The hospitality industry has taken a devastating hit through lockdown, and whilst the delivery sector has done its best to adapt, the supply chain is still really struggling. We are hoping to give an opportunity to local chefs and producers to get back to work.
Professor Green: Learning to cook these ‘Fakeaway’ recipes was a Godsend and a real laugh during lockdown in Morocco. It’s been so cool seeing the amazing response and it feels great to be able give back, especially considering I grew up in East London.
