Following the death of Joël Robuchon last year, his famed London restaurant L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon also shut its doors this year. At the time, however, there was talk that the restaurant would appear in another guise in Mayfair, and that's definitely the case - but it appears that it's launching with two distinct parts.
Both will be part of the new 7 Clarges Street development, a new building of VERY fancy apartments on lower Piccadilly (just near Green Park Tube and another big Mayfair restaurant HIDE).
First, spotted (by us) on Bolton Street, they're getting ready to launch Le Deli Robuchon. And they're also opening Le Comptoir Robuchon in the same building, being referred to by the group as a "new evolved concept" .
We do know that (ex Chiltern Firehouse restaurant Manager) Jacob Willemsen is looking after Le Deli, while Martin Renshaw (General Manager at Rüya) will be looking after Comptoir. As for the kitchen, that's being run by Jeremy Page who spent 13 years working for Robuchon at L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Saint Germain, Paris.
At Le Comptoir, which opens first, dishes will fall into one of two camps - La Saison and Les Eternels. The former, as the name suggests, is all about what's seasonal so you might find dishes like La Saint-Jacques - scallop, potatoes and sage or La Pluma - Iberico pluma, pimientos de padron and garlic on the menu. The latter is all about Robuchon classics and it's on that menu that you'll find the chef's famous mashed potatoes and his lobster with Romesco sauce.
The deli opens a month later than the restaurant and will be somewhere either to grab and go or sit down for a light bite. Open all day there'll be freshly baked pastries on sale in the morning, while lunchtime snacks might range from a Jambon Beurre to a La Croque a la truffe - made with Saint-Nectaire and truffle. They're also planning an afternoon tea service here.
