If you’re a regular shopper at London’s Brixton Village, from August you might notice party-goers heading towards a secret staircase in one of its previously unloved corners. They’ll be heading up to ‘Lost in Brixton’, a new light-flooded terrace space, designed to represent a concrete jungle, complete with a retractable roof. But they’re not necessarily leaving the gourmet delights of the market behind.
Apart from offering space for 440 revellers to dance to DJs spinning funk, soul and disco tunes, Lost in Brixton will use a new app called Tablesnapper that lets its guests order from traders down in the market below.
Traders confirmed so far for the bespoke app include Franco Manca pizza; Thunderbird Fried Chicken; Seven at Brixton (renowned for Spanish-style tapas); Fish, Wings & Tings; Jalisco (for Latin-American-inspired fare) and Honest Burgers. This means the Lost in Brixton patrons can enjoy a choice of local draft beer from Brixton Brewery or 16 summer spritzes from the Latin-inspired cocktail menu while a runner delivers food to their table.
This new summer playground will open from 5pm to 11.30pm Tuesday to Friday and 11am to 11.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, and in case you're local and worried about any night time noise. The venue will also be used by local groups for events and activities during the day.
