What: Yolk

In a nutshell: Egg pots and more for New Street Square

Summing it all up: The team behind pop-up turned residency Yolk are bringing their Clarence Court egg pots and new salad boxes to the legal district of New Street Square.

The low-down

If you work around Chancery Lane or Fleet Street, the arrival of Yolk next month is going to help you seriously up your breakfast and lunch game.

The popup, which then took a resdiency at Broadgate, is now opening a permanent spot at New Street Square. Tucked in just off new Fetter Lane, their new home is going to be mainly a takeaway spot (although there will be a few stools inside) - or, if the weather's balmy, there's a covered seating area outside too.

For breakfast you'll be able to order from a range of poached egg pots (Eggs Benedict comes with pulled ham hock, perfectly-poached eggs and brown butter hollandaise - I mean, that sounds good). But new to the menu for this opening will be as a choice of three new breakfast baps - including the Maple Bacon (maple-cure Franconian streaky bacon and whisky butter on a soft white bap) and the Halloumi Avo (spiced halloumi, avocado, Portobello mushroom and Yolk’s secret hot sauce).

Lunchtimes sees them move away from more egg-focused offerings with sarnies like the Steak Béarnaise, Umami Chicken and Pork Bun (below). More new items here include a range of salad boxes. The Crayfish Salad comes with gin & oyster mayo, avocado, rocket and toasted buckwheat and, for veggies, the Za’atar Salad features roast cauliflower and butternut, chickpea, harissa, tomato, feta-whipped yogurt and pomegranate, topped with a tahini dressing.
