Sunborn London superyacht hotel arrives at Royal Victoria Docks

sundown-extIf you want to go one better than a table with a riverside view and have your meal actually on the Thames, you may be interested in Sunborn London. It's a superyacht hotel moored at Royal Victoria Docks which features 136 spacious bedrooms and suites over 5 Decks with a restaurant, bar, Elemis day spa and conference spaces.

Of course we're more interested in the food and drink side of things. Pre-dinner drinks sound a must in the Sundowner bar on the third deck with outside seating looking out over the river.

The Lands End restaurant's Head Chef Robert Prendergast (who comes here via the Intercontinental Park Lane and Guoman Victoria) is promising a menu mixing the best of British with Asian and Mediterranean influences. The restaurant is on Deck 4 and on warm days, the retractable glass doors open on to a gorgeous terrace so it sounds like a pretty decent spot for al fresco dining.

Starters include Scottish beef carpaccio, aged parmesan, rocket, papaya puree (£11) and celeriac cannelloni, Ragstone cheese, spinach, parmesan sabayon, micro herb salad (£10), for mains Wye Valley shredded lamb shoulder â la Bourguignon (£25) and Mackerel, celery & tomato tartar, shallot puree, orange sherbet dressing (£21) and for dessert warm basil rice pudding with butterscotch (£7).

Land's End is open for breakfast Mon-Fri 6.30-10.30am, Sat-Sun 7-11am; Lunch Mon-Sun 12-3pm and Dinner Mon-Sun 6-10pm.

The Sundown London officially opens on 1 October  2014 at Royal Victoria Dock London, E16 1XL. To book call 0203 714 8111.
