Sardine kicks off Gallic dinners with a bouillabaisse night

It's already been lavished with glowing reviews - now there's even more reason to visit Alex Jackson's lovely Hoxton restaurant Sardine: on the last Monday of every month they'll be laying on a proper Gallic feast.

Each event will feature a particular French recipe or special occasion, starting on Monday 26th September with a classic Bouillabaisse night. Alex and team have adapted a recipe from the doyenne of Provencal cooking, Lulu Payraud - with a rich saffron-spiked stew packed with all sorts of different fish and shellfish, plus crisp croutons and rouille to soak it all up. The seafood is sourced from day boat suppliers in Cornwall - rivalling any you'd find in France. With cheese and plum tart to finish, plus a cheeky aperitif, you'll think you were dining on the Croisette instead of the City Road. It's only £28 a head.

If you can't make it to this one - there'll be a Grand Aioli night on October 31st - and a dinner celebrating the new season olive oil at the end of November.

We at Hot Dinners can't think of a better way to start the week - booking details are on their website at on their website or call 020 7490 0144.

Sardine is at 5 Micawber Street, London N1 7TB. Read our Sardine Test Drive
