It may not be our part of town, but even up here in North London word has reached us of the great food Ollie Couillaud's serving up in Wimbledon at his restaurant The Lawn. Now those lucky Wimbledon residents have got another opportunity to taste Ollie's wares as he's just taken over a local bakery and reopened it as The Lawn Bakery.
In addition to the usual lovely pastries and breads you'd expect, the cafe will serve up hot breakfast dishes such as scrambled eggs on sourdough with smoked salmon or omelettes as well as light all day dishes like croque monsieur or the Lawn charcuterie board (chorizo Alejandro, Bayonne ham, figs, rocket, quince jelly and Manchego for £12.50) and homemade ice-creams. There will also be an afternoon tea menu.
There is seating for up to 14 inside and two pavement tables.
The Lawn Bakery opens daily from 7am-7pm Monday to Saturday and 8am-6pm on Sunday. 9 High Street, Wimbledon Village, London SW19 5DX. Tel 020-8946 3774
