Over the past few years chef and Million Pound Menu winner Jay Morjaria has popped up with residencies all over London involving different iterations of Korean food. Now he's back with a Korean diner which he's showcasing for the next three months with a residency at Shoreditch cocktail bar Callooh Callay.
Park & Kim is going to serve up Korean food in an American diner environment. "Imagine an American opening a diner in Seoul or a Korean opening a diner in NYC," says Jay.
Dishes on the launch menu will include:
- Bulgogi smash burger - Beef patties, bulgogi glaze, sesame onions, Korean mustard & American cheese
- Korean fried chicken burger - Buttermilk chicken thigh, pickles, American cheese & curry mayo
- Mandu & eggs - Vegetable & tofu dumplings, fried eggs, house gochugaru & garlic chilli oil
- Kimchi burrito - Fried rice, pulled pork, pico de gayo, chipotle mole & Nongshim shrimp crackers
- Loaded bulgogi fries - bulgogi mince, American cheese, pico de gayo & ssamjang mayo
Those dishes sound like they'll go perfectly with the bar's new diner-themed drinks list featuring drinks like Green Card (made with a tequila and a mango chutney verdita) and Cherry Cola (which uses a cherry and tonka vermouth fortified with brandy).
