Just before Christmas, Neighbourhood restaurant Calici closed its doors in Belsize village, but it'll be back soon under a new name. It turns out, as first reported by the Ham and High, that celeb chef Giancarlo Caldesi will be taking on the space. That'll make this the second Caldesi restaurant in London (there's also another in Bray as well as a cookery school) and the chef's first new opening in over a decade.
As quoted by the paper, the chef is looking for the Italian restaurant to have "good service and excellent food, with sharing plates, main courses and affordable bites". Restaurant website had some further details, suggesting that the new location will be focusing more on sharing dishes than the other restaurants in the group. There's a good chance that the restaurant will also feature low-carb alternatives, as this has been a big focus of the chef in recent years.
Other than that, we'll have to wait for more news closer to the opening date.
