5/6/24 - updated with the opening date
A new development has arrived in Pimlico, Newson's Yard, that is bringing with it a very promising new restaurant. Wildflowers is the development's food and drink element and comes from chef Aaron Potter, who most recently was Executive chef at Maria G's and before that head chef at Elystan Street.
Described by Elystan Street's Phil Howard as a "truly great craftsman who brings both a wealth of classical experience and a fresh, creative and youthful approach", Potter's cooking at the new restaurant is being billed as Mediterranean with global influences. In practice, that means dishes like:
- Moules farci cooked in wild garlic & parsley butter
- Fresh sheep’s ricotta, grilled courgettes, burnt honey & fig leaf olive oil
- Langoustine & scallop crudo, chilli, fennel & Honest Toil olive oil
- Basque cider house steak for two, smoked bone marrow piperade
- Fig leaf & cherry ripple choux a la creme
Potter's menu will be big in seasonality, so expect the menu here to change regularly.
It's a two-floored affair and the upstairs area will be the wine bar, which is apparently taking inspiration from the cicchetti and pintxos bars of Italy and Spain. We're very much in favour of any new wine bar in London and this should be a very handy addition to the area.
They'll also have an in-house deli, where you'll be able to get sandwiches and salads, as well as various things to take home like Italian olive oils, house-baked focaccia and charcuterie.
As for the look, that comes from the other half of the business, interior stylist Laura Hart. We'll take a look at the design of the restaurant closer to the opening date.
