Faber seafood restaurant lands in Hammersmith with a daily catch

Having made a name for themselves and their seafood-focused pub The Victoria in Mile End, Matt Ward and Anthony Pender are branching out with the first of what could be a series of seafood restaurants.

Faber, which opened in Hammersmith this month, is a continuation of the duo's obsession with fresh fish. At Faber they'll be working with day boat fishermen, "this means that everything on our menu is fresh, sustainably sourced, and supports the local economy."

The menu at Faber subsequently changes daily depending on what's been caught. Recently, the menu has included:

  • Grilled cod cheeks with tartare sauce
  • Chalkstream trout tartare with soya, keta caviar and nori
  • Breaded gurnard with apple ketchup
  • BBQ wild sea bass, crown prince squash, purple sprouting broccoli

The drinks list has a similar British Isles bent with cocktails including a Burning Barn spiced rum grog, a Lantic gin negroni and a pear bellini made with West country pear syrup and English sparkling wine. The wine list also has a large English wine offering and a list split into coastal and inland wines.

There might be more to come, too. If this all goes well, it might just be the first in a series of Faber restaurants opening across London.
