Fans of Bethnal Green's Coupette, get ready - they're coming to Soho.
The new bar will be called Atelier Coupette and, as the name suggests, it'll be a bit different from their original bar. Following on from the Sunday sessions in the Bethnal Green which were more experimental events used to create new cocktails, Atelier Coupette is also going to have an experimental approach to it. So there are going to be a lot of new drinks on the menu here, and expect that drinks list to evolve too.
Drinks here are going to be small-serve cocktails with the aim of making them more affordable (prices are £8-£9), but it'll also be easier to try several drinks from the list. Starting off, that list includes:
- Bichy HB (on draught) - Clynelish, Pumpkin Butter Hennessy VSOP, LDN Fields Syrup, Mineral Concentrate
- Midnight Gimlet - Rosehip Bombay Sapphire, Blackcurrant, Dubonnet, Pine
- Cherry Ice Cream Float - Red Breast 12yrs, Talisker 10yrs, Vanilla Miso, Cherry Soda, Cultured Mascarpone Ice Cream
Paired with that, there's a French small plates menu which they say is "inspired by French nouvelle cuisine that was all the rage in London in the 60s and 70s". Dishes on that do sound very interesting:
- Poussin - Panko drumstick, truffle jus, zucchini purée, girolles, grilled courgette
- Fennel - Yuzu, green tomato dressing, sweet chilli jam, green tomato purée
- Mushrooms - mushroom custard, prune gel, miso, wild mushrooms, soy, sweet & sour shimeji, shroom consommé
This is a new opening that's slightly come out of nowhere but looks extremely promising. Nouvelle cuisine and cocktails sound like a winner to us.
