Must & Lees head to Warren Street for their second wine bar and shop

must and lees warren street

Updated 13/9/23 with opening date

Two years after opening their wine shop and tasting room in Islington, Must & Lees are expanding. Their second place will open this autumn on Warren Street, taking over Miel Bakery's old site.

Owner Chris and his team are aiming to jump straight into Fitzrovia community life, joining the likes of Miel, Honey & Co and Bang Bang on the street. So while their new place will be offering cheese and charcuterie platters, you'll also be able to take in food from other local businesses to have with Must & Lees' wines. They're even planning by-the-glass pairings for some of the area's best-known dishes. We're already wondering what tipple might go best with one of Honey & Spice's Fitzrovia buns.

Space-wise wise there'll be room for around 15 inside - with some outside seating too. There'll be a curated selection of wines by the glass - but if you browse their shelves and see something you like, all bottles will be served with just a £10 corkage.

At the back, you'll find their bottle shop which will feature the same kind of range as in Islington - so an interesting selection of wines from smaller producers, with less of an emphasis on natural wines and more about discovering new wines from the vineyards they deal exclusively with in France, Spain and Italy. "Fundamentally if you're going to be an independent wine merchant," Chris told us, "you ought to have some exclusive wines. Brexit doesn't make it easy but it's a part of what we want to offer and we want to grow that." There's also a temperature-controlled fine wine room ("more of a cupboard) for those with bigger budgets.
