Two new Sticky Mango restaurants arrive, in Tower Bridge and Islington

Fans of the Sticky Mango restaurant (the one with the impressive Anthony Bourdain mural), just a short walk from Waterloo station towards Bankside, are in for a treat, as not one but two new Sticky Mango outlets are coming to London.

Open now is Sticky Mango Tower Bridge, the second restaurant for chef Peter Lloyd and his South-East-Asian-inspired cooking. And there’ll be a third Sticky Mango coming to Islington.

If you’ve missed the buzz about Sticky Mango up until now, Lloyd opened his first restaurant in 2016, fuelled by his love of the cuisines tasted on his travels. At Sticky Mango Tower Bridge, there's broad selection of culinary influences – Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia, for starters. It’s taking over the former site of Cantina del Ponte, so this site also has uninterrupted views of Tower Bridge from its terrace. Lloyd is also fond of creating a bit of theatre for diners, so there are lots of dishes prepared tableside too.

The 100-cover restaurant includes a 10-stool sushi bar serving the likes of crispy shredded crab roll or omakase platters. There's also the 18-seater Blossom Island beneath the blossom trees and chandeliers to really feel you’ve travelled afar from London.

There’s also another nod to Anthony Bourdain at this restaurant. This time, it's not a mural but a quote emblazoned on the floor: “Your body is not a temple, it’s an amusement park. Enjoy the ride!”. As for the menu, here are some highlights:

  • Som Tam: Thai green papaya salad, served in a traditional Thai pestle and mortar
  • Wagyu & short rib Vietnamese pho
  • Singapore chilli lobster
  • Vietnamese Chả Cá Lã Vọng: a grilled fish dish from Hanoi
  • Vietnamese Coffee Chocolate infused with Vietnamese rum, served as a sampan boat

We’ll update you on the Islington Sticky Mango opening (which takes over the space from Jiji) when we know more.
