If you’re looking for a little late-summer Mediterranean escapism, we might have the culinary answer in the form of new restaurant EVE that is opening in Kensington. Think vegetables, grilled meats and seafood in an all-day dining concept. It's in Ember Locke, an aparthotel lifestyle complex (formerly the NH Kensington), that has a few locations around town like Leman Locke, (once home to vegan restaurant Alter).
EVE’s menu has been created by executive chef Talia Prince, who previously worked at Lyon’s Seafood & Wine Bar in Crouch End, and she also had her own three-month residency at Soho House White City, not to mention experience working at (soon-to-close) Le Gavroche and The Fat Duck.
At the restaurant, you can expect a selection of small and large plates, including:
- Za’atar fried chicken, zhoug mayonnaise
- Red Mediterranean prawns, smoked garlic, Bahārāt, lime and chilli butter
- Herb falafel, tahini and pickles
- Ras-el-hanout lamb belly, baba ghanoush, salted labneh and charred onion
- Halva ice cream choux with salted caramel butter
- Pistachio and polenta cake with fig-leaf syrup and sour cream
There's also a cafe, which will serve pastries, freshly made sandwiches, cakes, juices and hot beverages. And finally a bar with an adjacent walled garden, terrace and lawn, which sounds like an ideal spot to enjoy their cocktails like a Plum Sour (Sapling gin, St Germain and house-made plum puree).
